Draw the room. The covering prices on the area, the trim on the line around it, and the order rounds up to whole cartons.

An area, and a trim run around the edge of it

The covering is priced on the floor and the baseboard on the perimeter, both taken off one outline. Thresholds are counted at the doorways. A quote that multiplies the area by one rate has lost the trim, and the trim on a three-room job is most of a day.

Waste is not a rounding, it is a carton

Material is ordered in cartons and the carton does not care about your offcuts. The seeded rows carry a waste factor and a coverage per carton, so the takeoff rounds up to whole cartons the way the supplier will, rather than quoting 418 square feet of a product sold in 24 square foot boxes.

The warranty line nobody quotes

A covering laid straight onto a slab is a callback with a date on it, and every flooring warranty in the business is void without a barrier. Drawlite says so on a quote that has a floor covering, a prep line and no underlayment — before the customer sees it, not after the boards cup.
